Europa is one of the four Galilean Moons and features a unique multi-layered cave system and native animals, making it one of the few locations in the game that supports life. While its gravity is relatively low (**13% of Earth’s**), players are still advised to use a Jetpack for safe movement.
Appearance
Europa’s surface is a mix of icy and rocky textures, giving it a distinct visual style among moons. Beneath the surface lies a vast and complex cave system made up of four layers, transitioning from icy caverns to molten rock at the core. These caves are home to several species of animals and offer a dynamic environment for exploration and base-building.
Colonization
Europa is a strong candidate for colonization due to its abundance of all three essential resources:
- **Metal**
- **Water**
- **Natural Gas**
While it **cannot be terraformed**, Europa makes an excellent mid-game base thanks to:
- Its natural life
- Griefer-resistant cave systems
- Unique terrain and aesthetics
However, Europa alone **cannot prevent a Nibiru server-ending event**, meaning it’s best colonized after establishing spawns on terraformable planets like Mars, Venus, or Titan.
Europan Caves
Europa’s underground is split into **four distinct layers**, each with its own materials, structure, and atmosphere:
- **Layer 1** – Icy walls, stalactites, and surface light penetration
- **Layer 2** – Gradual transition zone between ice and stone
- **Layer 3** – More stone, darker lighting, fewer stalactites
- **Layer 4 (Core)** – Lava-filled environment with no stalactites
These layers are inhabited by various animals, including:
The layered design encourages exploration and makes Europa one of the most immersive moons in terms of terrain.
