Factories are one of the most important structures in the game. They take in Metal to produce other structures. Factories can be manufactured from another factory or bought from Koller.
Appearance[]
The factory features a green display on its front with alternating red and blue buttons used to purchase buildings and tools. On the side is a pipe, and on top are two smokestacks patterned with alternating red and white stripes.
Since Release 20, factories vary randomly in appearance—for example, the truss may be placed differently or be absent, the smokestacks may be positioned differently, or there may be a large block behind the factory. These are purely decorative changes; all factories function the same regardless of variation.
Making a Public Factory[]
To make a factory public, click on the large green button displaying your username. This toggles the factory between private and public.

Bugs[]

Two factories affected by the loading bug
Before Release 21 Prerelease 1, some parts of the factory sometimes load slower than others after placement. This causes the factory to appear as shown in the image, likely due to server lag. This bug can also occur on long-running servers.
Trivia[]
- The factory produces smoke from its smokestacks while recharging its metal reserve. If connected to a depot or junction without metal, this smoke production continues indefinitely.
- If a factory receives a continuous metal supply, it refills from 0 to 500 metal in about 3 minutes.
- One of the factory’s decorative fans resembles a fan from the game Duke Nukem 3D.
- The game allowed building a factory on top of another factory’s smokestack, stacking them visually. now you have to place a factory, jump right after and place another mid-air.
