Solar System Exploration 2 Wiki

A page containing all existing fuel sources in SSE2.

Propane Tank[]

The Propane Tank is the first fuel source used for ships, and is the smallest source of fuel in the game. Although it is free to take from vending machines, the Rocket Fuel Tank is more popular because of the Propane Tank's low capacity. This makes Propane Tanks rare to find after Mars is colonized and public factories are available. Nevertheless, you can purchase Propane Tanks from Mills for 20 metal and 20 natural gas.

At four feet tall, this tank is not much like the real propane tanks it is inspired by.

Appearance[]

The tank is quite rusted and scuffed. It has probably been refilled quite a few times before it got into your hands.

Use[]

Propane tanks are used as fuel before other fuel tanks can be acquired. However, it's capacity is so miniscule that in order to be useful, even early game, you need to have at least 9 per engine.

Rocket Fuel Tank[]

Although not available at the start of the game, the Rocket Fuel Tank remains a much more popular fuel option than the Propane Tank because it is large and not many need to be placed. It can be obtained from a Mill at a cost of 50 metal and 150 natural gas.

Appearance[]

The Rocket Fuel Tank is a long, white cylinder with 4 black stripes. The model was originally copied from Sidereal Expedition, but most of its decals have been changed.

Fuel Drum[]

Rocket Fuel Drums, usually referred to as Fuel Drums, are an upgraded version of the rocket fuel tank. They resemble the fuel tanks from the space shuttle. It can be obtained from a Station Mill at a cost of 150 metal and 350 natural gas.

Appearance[]

Fuel Drums are larger than rocket fuel tanks, but shorter. They resemble the fuel tanks from the external tank on the Space Shuttle.

Alien Fuselage[]

The Alien Fuselage is similar to the drive in that it is only obtainable by taking it off the ships spawned by the mothership. It weighs the same as the normal fuel tank, while holding 500 fuel, making it the best method of storing fuel.

The best strategy for obtaining this item is to get a turret and shoot down the civilian ships, although the mothership is also a option by trapping it in Callisto, but it is a 50:50 that either the mothership will get stuck in Callisto or no.

Appearance[]

It has a metallic/futuristic appearance on an octagonal shape, it is similar to size of about 2 Drives.

Hexagonal Fuselage[]

The Hexagonal Fuselage is a long hexagonal fuselage that holds 73 fuel, and can be obtained on the Plot for $50 cash.

Appearance[]

It is very similar to the Alien Fuselage, with a long cylinder on a octagonal shape. It can be in any color

Rusty Fuel Tank[]

The Rusty Fuel Tank is a rusted and recolored version of the Rocket Fuel Tank, it holds 73 liters of fuel, and can be obtained on the Plot for $50 cash.

Appearance[]

It is very similar to the fuel tank. It can be in any color.
