Solar System Exploration 2 Wiki

Pluto is a dwarf planet orbiting the sun. In-game it has about half diameter of the Moon. Pluto has only one moon and is one of the most visually distinct celestial bodies in the Solar System.

Appearance[]

Pluto's terrain is flat due to not being changed at all but varies greatly in color. Its main material is ice, but is additionally composed of glacier, snow, slate, sand, asphalt, basalt, and mud.

There appears to be a subsurface ocean of a frozen, violet-coloured liquid. Although, what the liquid is meant to be is a complete mystery, nor as to what it was intended for. Or is it?

The appearance of Pluto in-game is based off of its real life appearance from the known features that Pluto has.

Colonization[]

Colonization of Pluto or Charon is extremely difficult, due to the negligible amount of gas and the sheer distance from the other planets / moons. Creating a Depot-Junction Chain is one of the only ways to reliably get resources to the dwarf planet. Both Pluto and Charon have poor gravity, which makes a Jetpack recommended. Jumping while on either body will result in floating in the darkness of space (or into Neptune).

Moons[]

Charon[]

"Rather unremarkable, isn’t it?"

In-game, Pluto has one moon, Charon. It is half the size of Pluto. Unlike Pluto, its terrain varies in elevation. Charon has very weak gravity like Mimas, which makes jumping ill-advised and a jetpack required for travel.

Trivia[]

  • Pluto and Charon were first added in Release 10. They were the last astronomical objects to be added to the game until in Release 20 Ceres was added and Haumea and Makemake were added too on Release 20.5.
  • You can jump from Charon to Pluto, but you cannot jump from Pluto to Charon without a Jetpack.
  • Pluto is one of the smallest celestial bodies in the game, being larger than only the moons of Uranus, some moons of Saturn, and the dwarf planets Ceres, Haumea and Makemake in size.
  • Pluto belongs to the Kuiper Belt team which is reddish brown, along with Haumea and Makemake.
