Solar System Exploration 2 Wiki

Description[]

Proxima Centauri is a red dwarf star with a spectral class (Hertzsprung–Russell diagram) of M5.5. Upon touching the Red Matter in The Labyrinth, or using the Warp Core from the Alien Processor, you would be teleported to the Proxima Centauri System. Here you can find:

  • Khnemu, the second planet of Proxima Centauri. Similar to Earth, it has a breathable atmosphere and is the same size of the in-game Earth. However, its gravity is 9% stronger.
  • Osiris, the third planet. Osiris Is a gas dwarf (or Mini-Neptune) with a re-colored texture of Jupiter. Osiris has a pair of rings similar to Neptune's or Uranus's, with an inner and outer ring. Osiris has only one moon, that being Nephthys.
  • Nephthys, the only moon of Osiris, its reasoning for being a "heavyweight" moon is because it's quite dense, its gravity is 0.375 times that of Earth's, even though it is just slightly larger then the Moon. Using explosive charges here can give you Red Matter, which can be used in an Alien Processor to get converted Into a Warp Core and Drive.

Appearance[]

Proxima Centauri is a red dwarf, and it is visibly redder and smaller then stars like our Sun. Proxima Centauri is the size of Nibiru, however its gravity has the same strength as Earth's. This is intentional, as if it was realistic, you would be in Proxima's SOI and would be sucked into it within the orbit of Khnemu.

Trivia[]

  • If you were to somehow get a spawn working in Release 21, Prerelease 1 (the first initial release of the interstellar update), the team would be Thoth and not Rogue. This glitch was later patched in Release 21, Prerelease 2.
  • Proxima Centauri, in the first initial release of the Interstellar update, used to be called "Rigil Kentaurus". This later was changed in Pre-release 2, as "Rigil Kentaurus" is a formal name for Alpha Centauri A. Another star within the Alpha Centauri trinary system.
  • Proxima Centauri is the first extrasolar star system added, being added in Release 21, Prerelease 1.
  • Proxima Centuari uses the same model as The Sun. But its size has been significantly reduced, and it was re-colored to match its spectral type realistically.
