The Saw is one of the main building tools in the game, alongside the Hammer. Upon clicking a part with the Saw tool selected, the part will be separated from the ship it is a part of.
Issues[]
Even if the ship is split into two separate physical pieces by sawing, a new ship will not be created, and the two halves will still be considered parts of the same ship. This gives rise to the Bluetooth Fuel glitch.
Sometimes, the SelectionBox to indicate which part will be sawed off is not shown due to a glitch. This can make the Saw tool hard to use.
Formerly, there was not a server-side limitation to what the Saw could break the joints of. This was utilized in exploits that destroyed the universe by sawing apart planets (at the time planets were made from meshes).
