The Space Colony Creator is a large cube-shaped Ship Part, acquired from a Station Mill for 1000 metal.
Appearance[]
The Space Colony creator is grey and cube-shaped, with neon blue lines running vertically along the sides before meeting up at the top and bottom. On the sides are four dark, diamond-plate cuboids. A large green display is present on the Space Colony Creator, which is used to show requirements along with other useful info.
Usage[]
The Space Colony Creator's usage is self-explanatory. It allows you to create colonies unattached to a celestial body. Similar to an old bug with two players, where you could colonize places that aren't actually touching the ground, the Space Colony Creator lets you turn your ship into the ground. It is recommended to use a Space Station Core before activating the block, as it will fall otherwise. As long as you have metal, natural gas, and water, either by a Junction Chain, Drone Supply, or Freecam, you will be able to supply your colony just like any other. A Ball Lightning is used to activate the core.
Colony Making Tutorial[]
One of the easiest ways to make a colony is to make a small ship, with a Cockpit, Space Station Core, a Space Colony Creator, and about a 5x3 area of Catwalks. Make sure to setup Drills on a nearby planet, although Natural Gas isn't required for this step. Bring a Ball Lightning with you.
First, get your station into position around a planet, star, moon, or even in the middle of space. Be aware that when you use the Space Colony Creator, it will be very difficult to go elsewhere until you're finished setting things up. Place down your Mill and connect said Mill to a Junction, Depot, or one of the Drills using one of the three methods listed above. When your mill has adequate supply, you can begin producing Catwalks from the mill to further expand your colony. You can place these catwalks on the floor to extend your colony in whatever direction you want, even after you used the core. Then, it's as simple as making a normal colony. A Dome, 1-4 Factories, and a Mill are the minimum requirement for having a spawn. Have fun!
Trivia[]
- As of the Release 21 Prerelease 3, the Space Colony Creator has several odd properties.
- It cannot be deactivated, it is permanent.
- It is weirdly not welded together, upon sawing off the block from your ship, it completely falls apart.
- Certain portions of the Space Colony Creator (such as the blue lines) cannot have parts placed on them, as the parts will slide off otherwise.
- Parts built off the Space Colony Creator along with the Space Colony Creator itself wont despawn after the placer leaves.
- The Space Colony Creator can be used to colonize Nibiru, which in turn gives a badge.
