Solar System Exploration 2 Wiki

The Terraformer is a structure used to initiate terraforming on select large celestial bodies. If a planet or moon is capable of being terraformed and hasn't been terraformed yet, a Terraformer can be placed on its surface to begin the process.

Terraforming[]

Bodies that support terraforming—such as Venus, Mars, Ganymede, The Moon, and Titan—have a "terraforming score" that determines their current progress. This score can be increased by specific structures, most notably the Terraformer, which steadily raises the score by a small amount every few seconds.

Terraforming can also be accelerated slightly using Explosive Charges, although their contribution is minimal compared to the Terraformer.

Most celestial bodies have two distinct phases of terraforming progress: the first half and the second half. Environmental changes—such as the appearance of grass—may occur gradually (e.g., on Mars) or only during the later stages (e.g., on Venus).

For more detailed information, refer to each planet's terraforming section:

Trivia[]

  • Terraforming on Mars can be reversed by crashing Phobos or Deimos into Mars. The collision of one of them forms a ring around Mars.
  • If both moons crash, they will form Alcaeus, which it will turn into a full moon and it will solidify fully.
  • Explosive changes can reverse terraforming on Venus.
