Solar System Exploration 2 Wiki

Terraforming is a step-by-step process players must complete to prevent the end of human civilization. A terraformed planet or moon is characterized by vast fields of grass covering its surface, and players can no longer place down Terraformers on it. The five terraformable celestial bodies in-game are Ganymede, Mars, Venus, Titan, and The Moon. Below are two different methods to terraform and industrialize planets and moons throughout the Solar System.

Terraforming Processes[]

Longer and Less Risky Process[]

  1. Build a rocket equipped with numerous propane tanks and collect around $12,000 Cash by mining Moonstones or Shockstones.

  1. Purchase a Drill, Pumpjack, Factory, Mill, 15 Terraformers, and a Pickaxe.
  2. Travel to the planet or moon you wish to terraform.
  3. Place all the Terraformers on the surface.
  4. Find a spot with Metal: Very High and place a Drill there. (If you want to place a Dome later, you will need Water, preferably at Medium levels.)
  5. Locate a spot with Natural Gas: Very High and place a Pumpjack there.
  6. Activate the Drill and Pumpjack by clicking the green boxes on each to start collecting resources.
  7. Place your Factory, preferably on a spot with Metal: Very Low and Natural Gas: Very Low, to avoid wasting resource-rich locations.
  8. Place your Mill similarly on a low-resource spot.
  9. Connect the Drill to the Factory to start producing resources until you can create a Depot.
  10. After creating the Depot, connect all Drills and Pumpjacks as well as the Factory and Mill to it.
  11. When you can afford two more Factories, place and connect them to the Depot.
  12. Set all three Factories and the Mill to public use.
  13. Wait for the planet or moon to become fully terraformed. You can speed up the process by placing more Terraformers.
  14. Finally, create and place down a spawn pad.

Faster and More Risky Process[]

  1. Build a rocket with numerous propane tanks, then travel to Miranda (one of Uranus’s moons) or create Alcaeus and collect at least 5 Shockstones.
  2. Purchase a Factory, Drill, 20 Terraformers, and a Pickaxe.
  3. Travel to the planet or moon you want to terraform.
  4. Place all Terraformers on the surface.
  5. Find a spot with Metal: Very High and place a Drill there.
  6. Activate the Drill by clicking the green box to start resource collection.
  7. Place your Factory on a spot with Metal: Very Low and Natural Gas: Very Low to conserve resources.
  8. Connect the Drill to the Factory to produce resources until you can build a Depot.
  9. Connect the Drill and Factory to the Depot. Once you have enough resources, build two more Factories, a Pumpjack, and a Mill.
  10. Set the Factory and Mill to public use.
  11. Wait until the planet or moon is terraformed. Placing more Terraformers will speed up the process.
  12. Create a Spawn pad.

After Terraforming[]

The planet or moon becomes a livable and fully industrialized location. Players can live there without needing air tanks or a Dome. The Melancholia ending will be prevented since you have successfully colonized (fully terraformed) a celestial body. From your terraformed colony, you can expand your exploration throughout the Solar System.
