The Moon is one of two objects in the Terran system, and Earth's only natural satellite. The Moon spawns Moonstones, a type of Rock that can be sold for $350 and provide a somewhat reliable (if not useful) source of early game cash. The Moon is destroyed by Nibiru around 27 minutes into the game unless Nibiru hits from the top, the bottom (in those cases, the Moon survives forever), or reverse (in that case, Nibiru hits the Earth before the Moon) This time is not always going to be 27 minutes, as it is highly impacted by lag and might change depending on lag. Once the moon is destroyed, Earth will follow suit minimum 3 minutes after.
Falling into the Moon's core while it's being destroyed gives a badge called "Moon Ju-jitsu Class".
Terrain[]
The Moon mainly consists of Slate material, but its most prominent features are the relatively flat Lunar Seas, which consist of Rock and Basalt. There are craters with ejecta made of salt. During it's destruction, it's terrain will explode and mostly be just the lunar core, which vanishes once Nibiru gets close enough to the core.
Gameplay[]
The moon's primary use is to collect Moonstones. Moonstones spawn on both the light and dark side, and dark side moonstones can be found easier using Gamepasses like Night Vision or setting your graphics quality to one. It is a good source of cash to prepare for longer trips for more cash.
The Moon can be colonized, and it's team is gray-colored. It is unfeasible to actually base it before Nibiru hits. You can drill the moon, and this is the primary purpose of building on it. Using crates, (optionally) a metal transfer pipe, and a ship, you can move metal from the Moon to the Earth to sell it for cash.
It is destroyed by Nibiru at about 3 Radii (unless Nibiru strikes from the top or bottom). This destruction begins with explosions rocking the lunar surface, and destroying terrain. Destroyed terrain is sucked into Nibiru and deleted. The lunar core is red, and is exposed during destruction. When Nibiru passes over the moon, all buildings are presumably destroyed, and the destruction of Earth begins.
The destruction of the moon is a good gauge on if you will survive the cataclysm. If you haven't begun drone production on a planet without Natural Gas, it is unlikely you will survive. If you less than 3 factories on a planet with Natural Gas, it is also unlikely you will survive, especially without a mill.
If the Moon survives the cataclysm, terraforming it is possible. In that case, the lunar maria (the dark basaltic patches) become true seas with islands which were the mountains, and the lunar terrain has patches of grass, sand, rock, and some zones conserve their original appearance. Colonizing it becomes slightly easier then; however, it has no natural gas, so you'll need a Depot/Junction Chain or some Drones to transfer resources there, as if you were colonizing Ganymede.
